Final Ancillary Texts - Promotional Poster & Website

I have carried the same theme which I had developed from my video onto my ancillary texts, The magazine advert I have made using same colour scheme and has design cues from the album cover to create a consistent style. Although the task only requests for one of the two choices; Poster or Website as well as a digipak I have also mocked up a website to show how the house style and colour scheme of my release could be carried over onto other platforms.

A4 Magazine advert:
I had looked at real magazine album adverts from NME for bands such as Stone Roses and Stereophonics  for inspiration and have used conventions from these such as magazine quotes and star ratings as well as the band web address and record company logo's.

Below is an example of how the advert would look in a magazine such as NME or Q as well as a bus stop advert mock up:

I have also created a band website homepage just to show how I would carry on the consistent theme by using the established colour scheme as well as using the same fonts (Apple Garamond Light & Bebas Neue), I have posted some screenshots of the site homepage below. Click here to actually go to the site.

On the site I have made a large advert for the bands new album to promote through the digital platform as well as the magazine advert, I have also kept the black color scheme and the band logo to build a brand for the group.

Final Ancillary Text - Digipak

Posted below is what I have come up with for my ancillary Digipak, To keep a consistent theme throughout my video, digipak, poster and website I am keeping the snow theme and colour scheme of white/black/grey this helps with looking professional and links the texts which in turn gives a stronger marketing campaign.

Firstly the album cover:

Rear of the album:

I have also made in Adobe Photoshop an example of how the images would fit into the digipak.

Below is the outside view:

And finally the inside of the digipak:

My digipak follows the industry conventions by having the band's name and album name on the front with a track listing on the rear, I have "released" my album on the now defunct Creation records which was an indie label which at its peak had artists such as Primal Scream and Oasis on its books. I have tried to keep a consistent smart look throughout, the name of the album is Turn up the sun which is a song by Oasis but links to the theme of snow with the idea of the hotter the sun gets the snow obviously melts. Inside the digipak there is 2 cd trays; one for the album and one for a Dvd, In the centre of the digipak I have included a content listing displaying what is on each disc, I have tied in my music video to the digipak by listing the the video as a feature on the Dvd, also I have placed the bands web address on the digipak to direct fans to the site were more merchandise/tickets and news can be found.

First 20 seconds edited

This is a short piece from my video, I have currently edited over a minute's worth of film but some sections are missing so therefore I have uploaded the first 20 seconds only which is relatively finished. The first few opening scenes with no music in the finished edition will have some titles on them in the style of the Jake Bugg video shown below (first 10 seconds).

Please note: Video quality should be put up to 480p as the video quality will be too blurry if not.
...........

I will do something similar to the opening credits in the first 10 seconds of this video.

1st Shoot Update

I successfully started filming my video today (15th Jan) and over the weekend (12/13 Jan), I still need to film the chorus segments, I hope to do this by next week. We had heavy snow over the last couple of days but rather than not film I have decided to embrace it and use it in my video, although it wasn't necessarily planned, of what I have seen of it quickly on the editing suite it has come out pretty well. The only issues raised are that I ran out of battery on the camera so I lost some valuable filming time and I need to get everything filmed in the next couple of days as it will look pretty daft if in one shot there is loads of snow and in the next there is none. I will begin editing tomorrow (16 Jan)

Health and Safety assessment

I will make sure I follow basic health and safety rules and make sure all equipment is tested before letting anyone else or using it myself.

1st Shoot

I plan to shoot my video over the weekend (12-13 Jan), It has took me longer than I wanted to get to this stage due to the high demand of the college cameras combined with issues of getting my cast together on a day were we are all free as well as weather problems.

Influential media texts

My music video to "Temptation greets you like a naughty friend" is going to have a lot of inter-textual references, many of which draw on the idea of colour connotations, and the meanings of these within my context. I have an  idea to place scenes from the film Submarine very feint/transparent in certain parts of my video to link meanings such as danger/temptation/love/lust. As I am filming in the snow I think my female  models bright red hat will contrast well with white scenery and dark trees, some good examples of these could be Little red riding hood with the images below showing the effect, this reference would represent "temptation" a large part to the narrative of my video and linked to the song "Temptation greets you like a naughty friend". The Submarine references and clips would represent/connote love/lust of the main characters in my video due to the colour red's meaning and the story line of the film Submarine itself, Finally another reference could be made to the film Schindlers List which would be a Danger reference, the girl is extremely iconic in the film due to a technique used were the only colour in the film is her coat, also she is in huge danger in Nazi Germany due to the oppressive regime and anger shown towards people of Jewish dissent during Hitlers rein, there is also a air of mystery about the girl as nothing is said of her in the film just imaging,The context of this within my video is the danger/mystery of the female character.

I also want to try and recreate some iconic shots from Submarine as well as some from other music videos in my genre to tie into the narrative, these will be selected from the following videos:
